# 4. Application Chains

#### 4.1 Current appchains

Each appchain keeps the transactions and state of one application and runs it deterministically at high speed. The network currently runs:

| Appchain | Application | Block time | Current capacity |
| ----------------------------- | ---------------- | ---------- | ---------------- |
| Spot order-book appchain | SoDEX Spot | 100 ms | 100,000 orders/s |
| Perpetual order-book appchain | SoDEX Perpetuals | 100 ms | 100,000 orders/s |

Combined order throughput today is 200,000 orders per second. Planned future appchains include RWA, stablecoin and lending applications, and other financial primitives that need dedicated execution.

#### 4.2 How an appchain works

An appchain is a D²App (Chapter 3) running natively at the chain level rather than as EVM bytecode. It keeps its own state and its own transaction stream, and executes its logic deterministically, so every validator reaches the same result. Because the appchain does not go through a general-purpose virtual machine, it can run optimized native code such as an order-matching engine at exchange speed.Appchains do not have their own accounts or their own security. A user's identity on every appchain is their ValueChain EVM address, and every appchain is validated by the same validator set as the host chain. Developers build appchains with the D²App Development Kit, which turns conventional application logic into a verifiable D²App and takes care of the chain plumbing.

#### 4.3 Moving funds between the EVM and appchains

In practice, this is how funds move between the EVM and the trading appchains:

* **EVM → Spot or Perps:** a deposit call to the `ClobGateway` system contract.
* **Perps → Spot → EVM:** signed transfer instructions on the trading appchains.

These moves happen inside one network under one consensus, not across separate trust domains.A trading account is created by its first deposit, which must be USDC or SOSO; activation costs one unit of that asset. After that, any asset that is enabled for trading can be deposited.
